New Year's Eve

The End of Another Year.

I always experience conflicting emotions of nostalgia and anticipation on the last day of the year. For most of us, I think it is a time for reflection and goal-setting. And hopefully, a celebration of what has been and what is yet to come.

Please Be Safe.

During the holiday season many of us are on the roads, either traveling to/from holiday destinations or attending holiday parties. If your weather has been anything like ours, please drive slowly and use extra caution.

My December Was a Bit of a Blur.

I thought all of 2017 went by quickly, but December seems to have zipped by at light speed. I spent the first few weeks in a bit of a sleepless fog, but for a very happy reason.

On November 27th, we adopted an eight-week old German Shepherd X puppy from a rescue organization called Tiny Tails K-9 Rescue. Isn't she cute?!

A New Writing Partner.

My return to writing has been less prolific this month than I anticipated, as my attention has centered instead upon holiday festivities and this new family member. Now that she's settling in, I think she will be a wonderful writing partner and source of inspiration for me in 2018.

A Little Puppy with Big Paws.

Thankfully, after only a couple of weeks, our puppy is now sleeping through the night and housebroken. She seems to grow more every time we look at her, and it won't be long before I am struggling to pick her up. We suspect that she will be a pretty big dog.

It was so fun for us to have our kids home over Christmas, and for them to spend time with the puppy.

She's smart and sweet and soft and funny and we all love her.

...  All of us, that is, except the cat.

We are still having to keep our pets separated as the canine/feline relationship is not yet going very well. 😾 I hope they are soon friends or we may need a taller gate!

A Montana Pup.

Born in Montana, our new dog seems to love the snow. It's a good thing, as we've been getting plenty of it! She needs to quickly grow a thicker coat, as puppy fur isn't enough to stay outside long in our current sub-zero (-12 degree Fahrenheit // -24 Celsius) temperatures.

Have a safe and Happy New Year's Eve.

It seems as though many places are experiencing stormy weather and cold temperatures right now.  The Montana Department of Transportation offers some good winter driving advice if you need a refresher or some tips. Safe travels and stay warm.

As always, thanks for visiting this blog. I look forward to exploring more ways to making the most of every moment with you in 2018.

  1. I adore German Shepherds. I learned to walk pulling myself up on our dog's tail - and I believe he just about crossed his legs so he didn't pull me off my uncertain feet.
A very, very Happy and Healthy New Year to you.

    1. Thanks Lana. Like our kids and your puppy did, she is growing up far too quickly. But she is showing signs of being a great dog, and we are very happy puppy owners!
