Last January, I was planning a trip to the Hotel del Coronado. At that same time, I was becoming interested in writing some guest posts for other blogs. I wondered if a travel blog might be interested in publishing an article about my vacation.
I had never approached a blog with this type of offer before, so I searched the Internet for
some tips. I found How to get your guest post published on another blog. This was an immensely helpful article, and I ended up pitching my idea for a post about my San Diego weekend get-away to the author, for her travel blog Heather on Her Travels!
Heather on Her Travels
I have learned a lot from Heather about blogging and travel. I try to never miss an article that she has written. Many of the places that she travels to are places that I have been, and the others are all places I would love to visit! Her articles are interesting, informative and easy to read. She shares details about accommodations, food, culture and interesting "off the beaten path" places to visit. I suspect that if she and I were to travel together, we would have a lot of fun.
Heather lives a lifestyle that most of us would envy. It seems she is always visiting somewhere new, and she shares wonderful tips, stories and photos from each place. Don't just follow her blog though - her Instagram and Facebook posts will be delightful additions to your feeds as well. Heather resides in England and to my ear, her British accent adds a special-something to her videos!
Heather grew up traveling and it has always been her passion. Fortunately, for all of us, she began to blog about her travels. She says, “The blogging has now become almost as much a passion as the travel – sometimes I ask myself if I blog about my travels or if I travel to fill my blog?" Either way, it works for me!
The blog Heather on her Travels is a leading UK travel blog, and has a long list of places where its content has been featured and recognized. In addition to information about the places she visits, Heather offers travel and wardrobe tips, reviews of travel products and accommodations and lots of amazing food photos. She even posts "how to blog" articles, based on her own experience. There's more - but you really just need to visit her site yourself and see what all is there!
Although Heather does not accept many guest posts, I was fortunate enough that she published one of mine on her blog: A weekend getaway at Hotel del Coronado in San Diego. It contained different information than the article I published about the same vacation on this blog: Hotel del Coronado: Perhaps a Glimpse of Heaven.
If you haven't seen these posts yet, I hope you check them both out. But be prepared, you will want to visit Coronado after you read them!
This post is not sponsored in any way by Heather. I just find her blog to be a wonderful resource of travel information, and I think that you might also.
I mentioned last week that everyone needs a globe and I showed you this one. Even though we don't really need another globe, I think it is so pretty, and I can't stop thinking about buying it!

I LOVE to travel. Especially when I'm back home and can reminisce with pictures and memories. Yes. I'm weird!
ReplyDeleteThe other wonderful part of travel is the anticipation! We plan a lot of things last-minute, and I always regret skipping the phase of looking forward to a trip!
DeleteThese days I am largely an arm-chair traveler. I am fascinated by it though, particularly in the roads less travelled...
ReplyDeleteI agree - I like to get off the beaten path. But, I also love to travel via the pages of a book.
DeleteI think I could travel 9 months out of the year if I had the time and money! I have visited Heather's blog before (on your recommendation) but need to check it out again!
ReplyDeleteI recommend following her blog Lana. She travels to a lot of fun places!
Deletevery interesting!
ReplyDeleteI gave up writing about traveling since I am grounded for awhile. I hope to be able to return to it one day. I will definitely check it out!
ReplyDeleteHad you still been writing Million Mile Blog Rena, I could not have easily said that Heather's blog is my favorite travel blog. I loved it when you were writing it as well. I love that you are incorporating some travel stories on your blog, The Diary of An Alzheimer's Caregiver now though!
DeleteThanks so much Susan, I'm really touched that you featured me
ReplyDeleteSorry to be so slow responding to your comment Heather - I didn't have much internet access when I was traveling last week! I really love your blog, and I think my readers will as well!
DeleteI enjoy both your blogs! They are both informative and fun to read, and I always feel like I have learned something from them! Thanks to you, Susan, and to Heather for your writing! :)
