I spend a lot of time reading other blogs.
If you enjoy this blog, I suspect that we have similar passions. If I find something to be interesting or useful, I think you might as well.Throughout the week, as I meander the Internet, I plan to develop a habit of keeping a list of links to the fabulous content that I come across. I think it will be fun to share these links of my “fabulous finds” with you. Hopefully, this will be sort of like having your own personal research assistant!
I will publish these links each Friday. I look forward to sharing all sorts of recipes, tips, ideas, and thought-provoking articles from other websites; introducing you to some fabulous other blogs; and helping you navigate the internet quickly to find many ideas of how to make the most of every one of your moments!
When I began my Saturday Spotlight Posts series, I sort of had this idea in mind. Those posts, however, have evolved to spotlighting just one or two topics in a different way. “Fabulous Finds” on Fridays will be a weekly list of some things that have interested me, even if I haven't yet personally experienced or tried them. Readers are more than welcome to share their thoughts or knowledge regarding each link, and converse about them in the comment section below each post.
Curation of good content is something I appreciate on some of the other blogs I follow. I'd love it if you'd leave a comment and let me know your thoughts about this new post series.
This Week's Fabulous Finds:
~ Sign your name.
Do you know how to add a handwritten signature (or one that looks handwritten) to a blog post or any document on the computer? Here's a really helpful tutorial:How to Add a Blog Signature to Your Posts. (from Kat, The SITS Girls)
~ The quest for perfect pie crust.
I am capable of making a pie crust, but I lack confidence in consistently producing top-notch results. A friend mentioned a secret ingredient that is the answer to perfect pie crust. I found a recipe that uses it, and another that offers some helpful tips that I haven't tried before.
It is 86 degrees outside and too hot in my kitchen right now to turn on the oven, but I plan to try both of these recipes when the weather is cooler. I will let you know what I think!

~ Homemade Refried Beans sound fun to try.
Did you know that you can make your own refried beans? I can't wait to try!

~ Never forget that good idea again!
Have you ever come up with a really good idea in the shower, only to forget it before you have toweled yourself dry? Here's a few ways to prevent that from ever happening again.
~ The Mystery of Flight MH370
In March, 2014 I wrote about the unsettling disappearance of Malaysian Air flight MH370. The families of those passengers have remained on my mind, and I cannot imagine the agony of not knowing what happened to that plane. This article presents a theory - but the comments poke a lot of holes in it.

~ One year ago: Words to Live By
I used to do a post series on Fridays offering encouraging ways to “Live More - not Less.” A year ago today I posted Week 12 of that series. I even included some advice from a few of my favorite bloggers.
~ Get down from that tree!
We visit Yellowstone National Park quite often, and on one occasion we saw a mama bear scolding her cub to get it to come down out of a big tree.

What a fun idea to curate the links you love throughout the week. Thanks for including MiMi's pie crust recipe!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try MiMi's pie crust recipe Carlee - and I am so glad to have discovered your blog!
DeleteWow! Lots and lots of good stuff here for me to check out. Thank you! And yes, I have a story about refried beans. Up here there's a crazy system where a highschool student can get "advanced Placement" credit for a class by doing extra things outside of class. Spanish10 called for home made refried beans. M participated. She found an online recipe and followed it exactly. We had leftovers for days. Probably still do. Want some?
ReplyDeleteOnly if you swap it for the Spanish Rice I made for the same occasion - and that recipe seemed to make enough to feed an army then as well!
DeleteGreat idea Susan. I will definitely be checking these out. I'd love to add a signature to my blog.
ReplyDeleteI haven't added mine yet Lana - because I am hoping to do some blog re-design and add it all at the same time. It was easy to create one though!
DeleteI spend more than enough time on line now. And you put yet more temptation in my weak-willed way. Thank you. I think.
ReplyDeleteSorry - I think! ;)
DeleteLove this Susan and just added the signature to my website! Love it, now I am off to check out a few more of these great links!
ReplyDeleteRena, your signature looks great! But, I really think it is Kat (who wrote the tutorial) that deserves the credit. Glad I could point out her post to you though!
DeleteI think I have the perfect pie crust recipe which was given to me by an old friend of mine who passed away many years ago. Have you tried the recipe with vinegar and an egg? I will pass it along if you want it. Works for me every time. I actually have two recipes with vinegar -- one not so rich that I use for my pasties. Good idea for the "finds" I will be checking in on those.
ReplyDeleteI definitely want your recipe Lynn! Having tasted your cooking, I am sure it is amazingly good!!
DeleteGreat idea Susan - I'm off to read the blog signature post! It's always fun reading stuff that is new. I'll be back to read your next lot :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found this helpful Leanne. When we find good stuff it is always nice to be sure it gets spread around!
