Is There Something New on Twitter?

Is there something new on Twitter,  or has it been there all along?

Do you use Twitter? I do, but I am still trying to figure it out. I’m not sure if I’ve just been totally oblivious - or if perhaps a new feature has just been added - but I just made a huge discovery...

... I can now add photos to my tweets on Twitter!

When I first started using Twitter, it was my understanding that a tweet was limited to 140 characters, and did not include images.  I have been using Twitter for a while now this way, tweeting out my blog posts each day, and occasionally sharing other posts that I find interesting.

Of all the forms of social media that I use, Twitter is the least intuitive for me. I sort of hate to admit it,
but Twitter both baffles and intimidates me! I struggle with figuring out the etiquette; and I just don't understand when to re-tweet, who can see my replies, and what favoring a tweet really means. There have been days (weeks) when I've avoided checking my Twitter account, because I knew there were probably things there I should deal with, but I just didn't know how! (My sincere apologies to anyone who hasn't received a timely reply or follow from me - and I promise to try to do better in the future!)

I have recently begun to appreciate the merit of Twitter, however.  It is a source of a lot of valuable content, and I am beginning to make time to click and read more of the links. I am starting to understand how to pick up where I left off in the feed, and I even participated in a Twitter party! It is about time I figure it all out!

Back to photos on Twitter.  I had noticed, of course, that some tweets had photos posted with them. I always just assumed this was either a paid option, or required some sort of an app that I did not have. Then, just a little bit ago while I was composing a tweet on my computer, I noticed a camera icon below the posting area.  Was this something new, or had it always been there? How had I missed it?

It was so simple.  I clicked on the camera icon on my phone, and a prompt appeared asking for permission to access to the photos on my camera roll. Once I set this up, all I had to do was upload the photo of my choice from my camera roll, and suddenly my tweet included a photo!

This was my very first Twitter post to which I added an image.
How have I been missing out on something so easy? Do you add photos to your Twitter posts?

If you are not already following me (SusanF_mt) on Twitter, I would love it if you did!

In case the photo makes you hungry, you can just click here to learn more about the Tomato Tart in this photo of my Tweet!

Do you have any Twitter tips to share?
I sure could use them!

  4. Well, Twitter has completely locked me out right now. If I ever get back in I'll have to check this out. Thanks for the great info!

    1. Oh no Lana! Why are you locked out? There is so much I don't know about Twitter, I will probably have that happen next!

  5. Yes, twitter images have been a thing since sometime last year! There are studies that show a tweet with an image gets shared something like 40% more. Twitter is one of my favorite so anytime you have a question just let me know. I get a lot of traffic from Twitter. It's only 140 characters so you have to be imaginative to grab someone's attention but it definitely worth the effort!
