A trick for being sure someone smiles in a photo is to have them say the word cheese.
I recently came across this photo taken a few July 4th's ago. This snack was prepared by one of my kids. :)
Their creative arrangement of cheese and crackers made me smile - or maybe I did just say “cheese”!
Cheese platter - with a stack of crackers for the 4th of July! |
The beauty of fireworks usually elicit ooohs and aahhhs as well as smiles.
I took a lot of photos of the fireworks going off around our house, both near and far last night. Some turned out surprisingly well, and I'm quite pleased with these! Enjoy!

Fireworks photos - I took these with our zoom lens |
Fireworks with American Flag in foreground - I stood below our deck and waited until just the right moment for this! |
Happy Weekend!
How did you celebrate the 4th of July?
This post may be linked to one of the great link-up parties I follow and list on my blog. Check them out!
That is very creative with the cheese and crackers arrangement! :)
ReplyDeleteIt does make you smile too.
Glad you had fun with the fireworks photos. They did come out very well!
Thanks Colette. I hope you are having a fun weekend!
DeleteLove the cheese platter - your kids are very creative! Great fireworks pictures. I gave up trying to take pictures of our neighborhood - but I have a new camera, so I should have tried again. Next year! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI took a lot!! of photos Lana, and many of them were of empty space! The beauty of digital photography is that you can just keep trying until you get the ones you like :) Hope it wasn't too loud at your house and your neighbors kept it all under control!! My dog is more death than we thought - she just barked at the really loud booms this year.
DeleteYour photos of the fireworks are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd the photo of the snack did make me smile.
Happy summer!
I'm glad you liked them Romi! Happy summer to you too!
DeleteIt's not easy catching the fireworks...great job.
ReplyDeleteThanks Delores, I was pretty happy with these. I had never even tried to take pictures of fireworks before, because I just assumed they wouldn't turn out!
DeleteI have had the last 8 days off from caregiving (mom went to visit her sister). So my husband and I decided to spend a couple of days camping in the NC and VA mtns. before spending one day with family and one with friends back home in KY.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had fun Rena - I was hoping you were just on vacation, and nothing was wrong :)
DeleteNope just taking a much needed vacation. Trying to get back into the swing of things!
DeleteWhat a wonderful celebration. You captured some terrific photo of the fireworks. We actually spent the evening in watching a movie. We saw a few fireworks from our window though. Our baby boy Izzy ( our sweet dog) is afraid of the firework noises so we stay home and keep him cozy. hugs!
ReplyDeleteWhat good dog parents you are! Our dog has always sort of tolerated the fireworks, but would bark at them. She is 11 and we noticed this year she only barks at the loudest booms. She has definitely had some hearing loss over the past year.
